#2 Be Prepared
Get Your Coupons
Tomorrow is SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! and that means new coupons. There will be two new inserts, one from RedPlum and one from SmartSource. To see a complete list of all the coupons that will be included, click
HERE. Also most store's circulars run Sunday through Saturday, so those will be reset tomorrow as well.
Here are the links to some of the online printable coupons:
thekrazycouponlady.com has an online database which you can access
HERE. I often find, however, that some of these can be expired. I don't use it that often but if I am looking for a specific product, it's a good place to check.
Now, some will say that you need to subscribe to 4 or 6 Sunday papers. I bought 4 Sunday papers the first few weeks. You will make your money back. But, It just wasn't necessary for me. I subscribe to one Sunday paper. I get extra ads/coupons from my in-laws. I check the previews online Saturday and if there is a great coupon for something I will buy extra papers the next day. If something is a great deal, you can always use a coupon clipping service. They may charge $0.20 a coupon but if you need a great $3.00 it's worth it. For the most part I find myself getting rid of lots of expired coupons that I clipped and using mostly online or electronic coupons. Electronic coupons are coupons that are preloaded onto your club cards. Safeway and Fred Meyer both participate in this. You just need to go their websites and register.
*** UPDATE I now buy full inserts online. By far the best way to go for me!
Know the best sale price for the products you buy on a regular basis. Make a list and keep it in your binder.
Find the Match Ups
A Match-Up is when you pair your coupon with a great deal. Let's use diapers at Target for an example. Lets say that the box of diapers you normally purchase is $19.99. Target has a buy two get a $5 gift card. You have two $3.00 off Huggies Manufacturer's Coupon and you printed two $2.50 off Huggies Target Coupons. You can use one Manf coupon and one target coupon per box and then get a $5 gift card. So you end up saving $8 per box instead of $3 per box if you had just run out to Target the first day you saw the Huggies Manf Coupon in the paper. This is how thekrazycouponlady.com displays their match-ups:
$1.00/1 means one dollar off of one product and 3/27 RP means that this manufacturer's coupon was available in the RedPlum insert on March 27. Some people clip all of the coupons. I clip what I normally buy and then I date and keep the rest of the inserts in my binder. This way it is easy to find when I see a match-up like this.
So, #3 Be Patient wait for a better deal. Coupons run in three month cycles so another one will always come around. Know what your stockpile price is and buy product when it hits that price.
I am not going to reinvent the wheel on this blog. One of the best places to find coupon match-ups is HERE. Sometimes I notice how I can make it better and I will pass that info on. But The Krazy Coupon Lady keeps it updated really well. She also lets you look by store, which is really helpful.
